“Our soul waits for the Lord…

…he is our help and our shield.” That’s from Ps 33:20. Donna reminded me of this verse tonight. That’s exactly where we need to be with all that’s happening around us:

  • Ian is in a coma (Frank noticed that Ian followed him with his head and his eyes from one side of the bed to the other and that he seems more agitated than the last time he saw Ian).
  • To get him home and get him into familiar surroundings we need good weather to get a sidewalk and driveway in, but the weather isn’t cooperating.
  • We learned tonight that Ian’s primary care doctor at The Children’s Institute is no longer working for the Institute as of today – an abrupt departure – and we don’t know why.
  • Tomorrow we go in for training to learn how to care for Ian. I can’t speak for Mary, but I’m intimidated.

And so we wait for the Lord. He is our help and our shield. “Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you” (Ps 33:22).

Thank you for your prayers for us and for Ian.

Steve

  1. Steve & Mary,
We want you both to know that we pray daily for Ian to be healed. Every time we start to get frustrated and don’t understand why Ian isn’t back to you all, God quickly gives us scripture to show what a wonderful God we serve. We feel many people are being saved through this trial and someday Ian will have a awesome testimony to share. You all are never far from our thoughts.

  4. I remember Mary saying after the accident, (as only dear Mary can), “Well my life will be different, I just don’t know what that means”. God tells us not to worry about tomorrow, as He knows we will fret about each tomorrow. I think it is normal to mourn the lives you all lived prior to September 30, yet you are constantly sharing with all how you are being led to live your lives since September 30. Thanks for your precise prayer requests, you are always in my prayers.

  5. Dear Steve,
I pray that your lessons in caring for Ian go well.
Intimidated? Remember the FIRST time you brought Ian home as a newborn? Here was a brand new life that you and Mary, young and first-time parents, had to care for…and although one prepares for parenting children as much as possible, there’s nothing like “on the job” training!
Remember the first time he cried? What did that mean? Hungry? Thirsty? Wet? Uncomfortable? Bored? God equiped you to take care of Ian then and His daily mercies, graces and blessings will equip you to take care of Ian now.

Still praying for a complete healing and restoration of Ian!

    Mary Ann K.

  6. Steve, it was great to meet you, Mary, and Larissa this past weekend at LOLC and to talk with you after the AM service. I am praying for you and Mary especially as you both learn how to care for Ian at home. May the Lord bless you, Tim
