He owns everything
If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine. Ps 50:12
I regularly have to remind myself of truths like this. The Lord owns everything: food, clothing, me, you, Ian, health…everything. It’s humbling on the one hand; I don’t own or control anything really. God does. I’m completely dependent on Him even for food. But, that’s comforting, too. The One who is good holds all things in the palm of His hand. It doesn’t seem that way with Ian in the state he’s in, but I know it’s true. Scripture declares it. My experience up to now confirms it. Nothing has changed.
Ian has been eating more by mouth lately. Mary feeds him a whole variety of things from pudding to Ramen noodles. It used to be she could only give him things the consistency of honey but no more. It’s awkward for him, but he tastes much of what we have for dinner. It’s certainly not a full meal at each sitting, but it’s more than what it used to be. He’s making very, very slow progress.
Thank you for praying.

Thanking Him for His mercies that are new every morning – Great and Faithful is He! Praising Him for Ian’s progress, no matter how small or insignificant they may seem to us, it is clearly evident the genius of ALL doctors is administering His care upon Ian and the entire family, one step at a time. I pray that you will continue to be encouraged as you live out Ian’s, as well as the family’s, daily struggles.
“I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man; so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and lenght and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fulness of God. Now to Him is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:13-21

Oh, Steve!
Such an encouraging post!
As is your style, you humble yourself with your confession of God being in control and finish praising God, giving a good report and as always asking or thanking for prayer.
I pray God’s blessings on you and your famlily and Larissa this holiday season!
Still praying!

joshua 10:1-15, and all of joshua! the way that the Lord brings him and the israelites through battles is amazing…sometimes He fights the entire thing for them, they dont lift a finger. and other times He allows them to march through the nite, fight all day, then some (bc He stops the rotation of the earth to allow the sun to stay up!!) and then He finishes it off. oh, and did i mention the later battle was not even a “their” fight?! He’s funny like that!

I want to send you all Christmas wishes. I know that it is hard to enjoy the holiday with all you have been through, but the message of Christmas is HOPE and that is what we have for Ian, Larissa and all the family. We must live each and every day in hope; this Season just brings it closer to us.
He came as a baby, lived in this world and gave His life for us and our salvation. My wish for all of you is that you can remember the message of Christmas – every day.
With love and continued prayers.

We pray for Ian all the time and will continue to, for God has not told us to pray in vain.
I keep asking God to fulfill his word, “Light dawns in the darkness for the upright” (Psalm 112:4). God has promised this for his children.
Thank you all for your example of perseverance. Thank you for bringing Ian to church and Resolved and other places. Thanks for your example of laying down your lives and not grumbling or complaining but constantly trusting God.
