I have been very encouraged lately to continue in prayer that God would allow Ian to speak words to us. Lately, each night that he sits on the mat, he uses his voice. And it’s always when I ask him to. Tonight was the longest that I’ve ever heard him use his voice and I could tell that he was working so hard. While he was doing it, I was praying that God would please help him to say words. I got so excited thinking that maybe God would answer my prayer right then and Ian would say my name, or his name, or anything reall! I was anxiously waiting for God to answer. He didn’t, at least not in a way that I could hear with my ears, but He did allow Ian to speak in the way that he knows how to now.
So let’s continue in prayer for God to give Ian use of words again. We have been given so many examples of God answering prayer in Ian’s healing process. I read this Spurgeon quote to Ian the other night and we were both encouraged:
“We scarcely open the Bible before we read, “Then began men to call upon the name of the Lord;” and just as we are about to close the volume, the “Amen” of an earnest supplication meets our ear. Instances are plentiful. Here we find a wrestling Jacob—there a Daniel who prayed three times a day—and a David who with all his heart called upon his God…. We have multitudes of commands, and myriads of promises. What does this teach us, but the sacred importance and necessity of prayer? We may be certain that whatever God has made prominent in his Word, he intended to be conspicuous in our lives. If he has said much about prayer, it is because he knows we have much need of it. So deep are our necessities, that until we are in heaven we must not cease to pray. Dost thou want nothing? Then, I fear thou dost not know thy poverty. Hast thou no mercy to ask of God? Then, may the Lord’s mercy show thee thy misery! A prayerless soul is a Christless soul.”
Thank you, always. And that simple phrase again: pray for Ian.
Laris As you know, I am on my knees every night in prayer for Ian. The past several nights I have been impressed to ask God to let Ian speak to you. This post is so encouraging! I will press on with the request until our faith becomes sight or in this case sound!! Great is Thy Faithfulness!! Give Ian a hug from us. Love you Mom
I continue to be amazed at your faithfulness and commitment to be a true friend to Ian. I find myself often looking for updates and in the quiet moments praying for Ian in the same way I pray for loved ones that I actually know! I am beginning to have that family feeling toward you all because I am also waiting for news that will bring such joy as I know God’s purpose for Ian has brought you and his family even closer to know God and the power of His might. Blessings to you, Praying in Corpus Christi, TX

Oh, Larissa! Thank you for your encouraging post! Thank You, Lord, for Your continued work in Ian. You are able to bring to completion what You have started in Ian’s healing. Please strengthen him, Lord. Encourage him to keep on, in the physical with his therapy and in the spiritual with his walk with You. Thank You, Lord for the Murphy family and for Larissa. What great servants of Yours they are, Lord! I know that You are bragging about them all over Your heaven, telling Your saints and all the angels to take note of them and to rejoice in these great Heroes of the Faith. Teach all of us, Lord, what You would have us learn through this experience, to fast, to pray, to perserver, to be patient, to not lose faith or become discouraged, to depend completely on You, to yield to Your perfect will. Please allow Ian to speak, to Your glory, in Jesus name. Amen
It’s encouraging to hear that Ian is vocalizing. God has done so much towards Ian’s healing and he is not done working yet! Still praying, Annie in Lewisberry, PA
dear larissa, words often elude me after i read your posts..simply a heart rejoicing in how God speaks through you. i/we will continue to ask our Father for the gift of voice for your precious ian. love, joyce b and malcolm j
So many times in my life, I’ve had God answer prayer. I can’t even count how many times He’s blessed and touched my life. But, during that process, I hated the waiting. I was wanting things right then. I believe when God sees that, no matter what, we love Him regardless of our circumstance, He moves in great and mighty ways. I truly believe God is healing Ian. And I also believe that He’s healing everyone involved…maybe not just in a physical way, but with some things spiritually as well. God bless you all, and I am praying! Ian has already been healed more than 2000 years ago! Let’s just pray for the manifestation. 🙂
