Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Matthew 6:26

Today while I was driving to work I noticed a robin grabbing a twig off the ground. It then flew away to what I supposed to be its nest. Then I noticed two more birds, who were hunting for a much longer time, and even though I had to keep driving, I knew that they would find twigs to build a nest as well.

I was reminded of this scripture as well as the truth that God cares enough for birds that he would provide them with twigs for a nest. But while the first bird found a twig right away, the other two didn’t. It took them longer. They had to hunt longer before they found their twigs. God didn’t give them their twig right away. But he still gave it to them.

Ian has had to hunt longer for his twigs. He has had to wait much longer than most people to receive answers to prayer, and some still haven’t been answered yet. He isn’t able to just hop outside, find a twig, and build his nest. He has had to wait 24 years, and continues to wait, to be able to build the life that he’s been praying for.

I’m praying for faith that God will give us a future that is brighter than today and let us build our life as we have prayed. And I’m praying for grace if He doesn’t. And, by God’s grace, I don’t ever want to stop praying for Ian to be completely, 100% healed. In a breath.

Thank you, always

Larissa

  1. That was beautiful! I have prayed for Ian for a while but have never commented before, but thought I would now! I am glad for all the progress Ian has been making lately.

  2. Yes. Keep praying, and we also will keep praying with you. We’ve never met but I have been amazed at God’s hand in Ian’s life over the past year that I have known of this blog. This life is but a breath and we will be perfectly restored someday. But I pray with you that may God bring complete restoration and healing to Ian even while he is here on this earth, doing it so that He will be magnified through all of your lives. – Lauren in NYC

May God bless you, Larissa. This is a beautiful post.

  4. God bless you, Larissa!
Yes, you and Ian are waiting.
That is why I think of you two, with teary eyes, when I hear John Waller’s song “While I’m Waiting”.

    Still Praying!

P.S. I absolutely LOVE the bird picture! So cute!

  5. Ditto to what Lauren said. We WILL continue to pray. In God’s good time, Ian will be healed – in this life or the next. Our prayers are that he will be healed here and be able to continue to be an inspiration to others. He, and all the family, have been an inspiration to me and – I am sure -to many others. Keep the faith and keep praying. God’s will – WILL be done!

  6. Good post, your blog entries are encouraging to me. You ask for God’s healing, and you ask for grace for the answer…whatever that may be. To me, this is true faith…i just love you!!! GLA

  7. I like the bird story Larissa. (and I am glad you did not wreck) It is so cool when God uses His incredible creation to remind us of His Amazing Truths. I cannot imagine what it is like to yearn so for that nest of your own and to see it as just beyond your grasp. We will all keep praying for healing and your future. You keep looking at the little birds, and the flowers of the fields, and know, like them, He has all your days in His Loving Hand.
