and be thankful

| Comments: None

i’m thankful that it’s the end of the work week and it is 70 degrees. i’m thankful that i can hear our wind chimes on the clothes line and that i have an hour alone with an iced drink in my hand. and even though i have had laundry sitting in my washer since tuesday (anyone remember that post??), i’m thankful that my husband doesn’t really care if the clothes are washed.
thankful for my God who created rest.
happy weekend.

  1. i'm one of the thousands who recently watched your movie. i was tempted not to comment because anything i want to write doesn't seem like enough. your story is an exactly what you hope it is, a picture of Christ's love. God has used it to remind me of how selfish my love can be. thank you for being so open. i look forward to reading along and praying for you and ian.

  2. I'm grateful it's the end of the week too!

  3. Gratitude goes a long way. You are a wonderful example of "rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you!"

  4. I am a fellow western Pennsylvanian (transplanted to Maine) and a fellow sister in Christ. I was just introduced to your story and can't begin to tell you how much it has impacted me. You and your husband are truly a wonderful example of what authentic God-love looks like. Thank you for your transparency and vulnerability. I look forward to following your story and God's continued work through you both!

  5. Just saw your video, yesterday. prayed for you today: for Ian to walk, for help to come from many unexpected places, for rest, for strength, and most of all I thanked God for you both and your story. So many marriages will be touched, so many hard hearts softened, so many unkind words will be held back, so much grace will be extended to spouses everywhere because of your example of Christ-like love.

  6. Basically I want to repeat the above comment from Jessica! The Lord is definitely doing something in my heart through your story but just not sure what yet. I recently broke off my engagement two weeks before the wedding & now "meeting" the two of you has led me to evaluate even more honestly my life & why I did it. I can't get you and Ian out of my mind & the fact you are my age really is convicting even more! Its so refreshing to see your honesty in your daily struggles but yet how His grace abounds at those times! Please don't stop writing Larissa!

  7. I just wanted to say thank you for your beautiful video. Thank for the reminder that our love in marriage is supposed to look like the love that Christ has for us. Thank you for the reminder of covenant. Your story is truly a story of encouragement and commitment. May God bless your marriage beyond measure and may it be a light in this dark world.

We are going through a very difficult time in our marriage and your story was such an encouragement. It was no accident that God led me to watch your video. Your story is truly beautiful!

  8. Been praying for u and Ian with tears streaming down my face of your humble love and perseverance! How I long for that bc it's evidence it's put in us and y'all from the Holy Spirit! A miracle! Last 3 days during my journalist and prayer time, I have been praying for y'all both! Today from north Africa 10 am my time as y'all are asleep about 2am, praying 2corinthians all of chapter 4! How his power is right NOW being manifested in y'all– jars of clay. Asking that y'all would DREAM and LONG for the eternal weight of glory u will receive and not for the temporal things. For his mercy and grace to reign consistently on y'all! Jesus remind them of your eternal gift to them which overwhelms any current hardships they are experiencing! I wish we were friends in person! Thank u for yalls lives and dying to yourselves in order to display the power and life of Christ!! –Anita

  9. I too, just recently watched your video and discovered your blog. Love seeing how God is working in y'alls life. It's very convicting and inspiring. How amazing that God would use our lives to bring Him glory. :~) I will happily keep the two of you in my prayers.

Oh, love the mason jar cup. :~) Happy weekend.

  10. I am praying for you both. I also drink out of mason jars. That picture made me really happy.

  11. I remember..I opened my washer the other day and saw wet clothes and thought of you! You're not alone – I put them through another rinse cycle and prayed for you all while doing so. Thanks for sharing.

  12. Rest is such a wonderful thing!! I'm glad you are enjoying the lovely weather!

  13. Larissa and Ian, I watched your video through Desiring God's blog…then through Ann Voskamp, discovered your blog. After watching the video like 3 times, and being so touched by your story, I felt like I had to start at the beginning – of your story.
Over the past few days, I read through every post, from the beginning. I can tell you that I am so happy you are writing a book! No words can describe how my faith has been strengthened, my love for my husband renewed, more passion about being in Gods Word, for the church, and for beauty to be seen – all from reading your blog. A million thanks.
And though I did not know about "Praying for Ian" before now, I will daily pray for Ian now, for him to walk, to initiate, to recall, and for you Larissa, for joy, for strength, for time and energy to do all you have to do, including the words and time to write.
And I were anywhere near, I would gladly help you with your laundry and help you catch up on all housework. 🙂

  14. Ahh…weekends! Love 'em!

BTW, is that a "relatively" new small pix on the blog? The one on the right with Ian in a blue shirt? Always love seeing the pix!

    Still Praying.
