Ian has been mouthing a few words- saying them without his voice coming out. It’s really cool because it’s just another encouragement that he will be speaking again soon. The fact that he can form words with his mouth is really cool.

Thank you for praying..

Ian continues to do well. One of our pastors commented today that his personality is coming out more and more each time he sees him. Praying for more progress. We had to return the mobile chair but a new one is still being built for Ian.

Thank you, as always…

Fasting

By admin,

I will be fasting on Wednesday if anyone wants to join. I’m motivated to pray specifically for Ian’s speech. Speaking is very hard work for Ian. I want to pray that God would allow Ian to learn how to talk again as easily as possible and that he would start talking more and more.

Just a note about fasting- it doesn’t have to be an entire day without meals. You could skip two meals, just give up coffee, leave out chocolate. Whatever serves as a reminder to pray is a good rule of thumb for me on how to fast.

Thank you, always.

Happy Thanksgiving.

This was the first time in two years that Ian has been able to eat a Thanksgiving meal.
Even though I sometimes have to look harder to see it than I want to, we have much to be thankful for.
Thank you for praying

Ian was sick again this morning and still has something going on with his lungs. Please pray that God clears out his lungs and allows Ian to be feeling well again. He hasn’t been able to do much for the past few days but it would be nice for him to get back to therapy.

On a side note, we ended up keeping the mobile chair for awhile longer while they work on building him his own.

Thank you, always

Still Sick

By admin,

Ian has had a rough week. He was sick again overnight and also has something going on in his chest. Pray that God would clear his lungs and remove the cough and congestion.

I was thinking that it might be really encouraging for Ian to get notes in the mail from people who are praying for him, particularly ways that you have been encouraged by him or see Christ in him. So if you have time to drop a note, mail them to our church at:

Sovereign Grace Church
c/o Ian Murphy
1220 Wayne Ave.
Indiana, Pa. 15701

Thank you, always, for praying.

Sick

By admin,

We don’t have too many updates. Ian spent most of the day in bed sick yesterday. He seems better today but still not back to himself.

Tomorrow we will return the mobile chair to therapy. The good news is that while we were going to originally have another manual chair built for Ian, his doctor wants to skip that and have his next chair be a mobile one. This is a huge step because initially she wanted another manual but after seeing how well he did, changed her mind. Unfortunately, it will probably take the wheelchair company quite a long time to get a new chair to us, but at least it’s going to happen.

Thank you for your prayers.

Just got back from a wonderful trip to Lancaster to see the premiere of Home, the movie that Ian worked on for his internship. I haven’t seen so many smiles from Ian in a long time. We hope to have pictures to post soon and more info.

Trusting God

By admin,

I had an experience last night with my car that gave me an opportunity to trust God. And God gave me grace to do that as well as provided much mercy, as our situation could’ve been much worse. But had it been worse, had we been in an accident or a much scarier situation, would I still have trusted God? If He hadn’t spared us from injury or harm, would I still have had faith in his sovereignty, in that very moment?

Ian and I are reading “Stand,” which is a book about endurance. One of the chapters is by Jerry Bridges and he talks about God’s sovereignty in suffering. He said that we have two things that God will never take away, even when our life has totally fallen apart and we feel that we have nothing left- God will never take away the Gospel and He will never take away His promises. I don’t exactly know what it means that he won’t take away his promises because I don’t always understand them. My flesh puts his promises on my own terms, like promises to deliver (I think that should’ve happened by now.) But to know that he will never take away the Gospel is a sweet reminder to us.

Thank you, for praying.
