radio silence

our blog has been quiet, not because He is not at work, but because brains are full and eye lids are tired. from a healing femur to a wifey with work days filled to the brim, buying our first home and finding a new car that he will fit into with a straight leg and planning a book release arriving in two months, the space in our brains for creating these words is sparse, because it is filled with gifts.

and even though our evenings are quieter, less running while the bones heal, the gaps in our thoughts are filled with planning and processing and wondering how in the world He led 10 million people to view our videos in three years. all the while wondering, yet knowing, how in the world He will make it even bigger.

and there are moments like this, where we are forced to be stuck in the now, in this exact moment, because it’s the only place these little people know where to live.

and before rara runs off to a board meeting while uncle ian joins our little murphy three for an evening, we receive another reminder that He has created so very much for us to enjoy.

  3. Dear Ian and Larissa,

I have just recently come across your video and blog and I need to tell you – you have been a wonderful blessing and encouragement to me. Thank you for sharing your story. And I’m so grateful that you shared the video clip of your wedding when your pastor read from John Piper’s book, "This Momentary Marriage." I loved the quote and was able to download the book for free (most of his books are available for free download) and am now reading it.

I have been married for 20+ years to a man who can be absolutely wonderful, and absolutely horrible. He is emotionally abusive and many times I thought our marriage was over. I would have called it quits long ago, except for a very strong teaching from childhood that the marriage covenant is not to be broken. I love him. We have 6 beautiful children and he loves them dearly but treats them as he treats me. But God. How I love those 2 words! I have just started a blog under a pen name to protect our privacy and I will leave the link with you in the event you ever have time to check it out!

Ian, I pray that your leg continues to heal and that you will be able to walk unassisted – in God’s time! And Larissa (my daughter shares that as a middle name!). I pray that God will give you strength to go to work tomorrow! For both of you I pray this: "May the God of hope fill you with all JOY and PEACE as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13

  4. Thank you for being an example of the radically subversive love of God!
